Terms and Conditions
Payment on completion, upon inspection (in person or via emailed images if preferred) by the customer and when completely satisfied via cash, cheque, online payment on receipt of Invoice.
No up front deposits required apart for forward ordering of relatively high value materials exclusive to a particular order ie antique desk leathers, brass fittings, large mirror and glass in which case payment is required in full for these materials before work commences for which I will submit an Invoice.
QUOTES AND ESTIMATES
Always free of charge and available via email or written letter. Sometimes rough estimates can be given over the telephone and usually very accurately via email on receipt of emailed images of the item needing work. Fixed price quotations can only be given after I have inspected the item in person via a home visit. For clients living further away where an initial home visit is impractical, I can give an accurate estimate via email and a fixed quotation when I collect which rarely differs from the estimated price. In the event that such a subsequent quotation is higher than the estimate, there is no obligation for a client to proceed with any of the work and no charge is incurred, irrelevant of the distance I have travelled to see the client. (Note: Quotes for Insurance purposes are subject to a £50.00 charge refundable should the work proceed)
There is usually no charge for any furniture restoration materials unless they are relatively high value and exclusive to a particular order ie desk leather linings, brass fittings, large mirror and glass. All such materials are charged by me at cost ie I don’t add any mark up to the suppliers prices – what I pay them is what you pay me.
COLLECTION AND DELIVERY
No charge for collection and delivery for most addresses in the Bristol, Bath, South Gloucestershire and surrounding areas. I can also collect and deliver myself in my own vehicle up to 120 mile radius of Bristol and further by arrangement for selected items for which a charge will be applied – please enquire if you live outside the Bristol area and wish to use my services.
All work is warranted for fair and reasonable usage. Some chair frame repairs cannot be warranted due to severity of damage and I will always advise customers of this before any work commences. It is rare that I cannot warrant a repair.
I can usually confirm a fixed completion date before work commences if the customer requires this otherwise an approximate timescale is offered. As this type of work can be unpredictable, there are occasions when the work may over run and it is preferable for the customer to allow for this if they can. At such times I will always endeavour to advise the customer of any delay but would ask any customer to contact me if they have any concerns on timescales that are over running.
VISITS TO MY WORKSHOP
I work from a home based workshop and am not set up for customers visiting the premises. I can though allow visits for potential customers in connection with a serious enquiry – please enquire.
I have Public Liability cover for the business and customers furniture is covered for Fire and Theft whilst on my premises . Insurance cover is provided by NFU Mutual. Policy documentation is available for inspection by potential customers – please enquire.
I am not registered for VAT so there is no VAT to add to any of my Invoices.
I make extensive use of email and read most emails as soon as they arrive. Consequently I can reply by email very quickly if required. I am always available by phone on any of my numbers at any reasonable time. On rare occasions, voicemail may cut in if I am in the middle of a tricky job or driving, in which case I will ring back as soon as I can.
